PS3 3D Blu-ray support won’t come with update

…at least, not at first. There will be 3D support in the update coming in June, but that’s only for 3D games like Wipeout HD, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Super Stardust HD and Pain, all of which are coming out soon, and will be packed in with Sony’s high-end Bravia 3D TV.

If you’re the early adopter that gets the 3D Bravia TV, you won’t be using your PS3 to watch your fancy new 3D Blu-ray discs. At least, not yet: the PS3’s update for 3D Blu-ray will actually come later in the year. Too late for any early adopter, as Sony likely knows.

Of course, Sony will be glad to sell you a stand-alone Blu-ray player that’s 3D compatible.
