PS Vita sales hit another record low in Japan

The PlayStation Vita is yet to reclaim any sort of traction in Japan, sinking to a brand new record low. It hit a record low last week, beating a record low from February. It is now playing sales limbo — how low can it go?

This week, the PS Vita scrabbled to pull in 8,250 units, coming behind the 3DS (63,796), PS3 (17,765), and PSP (13,166). At least it was able to beat the five-year-old Wii, which scored 6,837 sales.

I certainly can’t be surprised anymore. Sony hasn’t done a lot with the thing since it launched, failing to convince the skeptical why it deserves to be bought at such a high price. It’s lacking a must-have title, especially for the Japanese crowd, and since launch there’s not been much of interest going on — unless you really like Twitter.

Let’s please not get into another “months between half-decent games” situation, please. That’s really not what the Vita needs.
