Monolith Productions art lead Dave Matthews has revealed to IGN that Project Origin will be delayed until early next year. The reason for the delay is a little up in the air, but it may have something to do with the fact that Monolith wants to release the game on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 simultaneously. Originally the game was slated to hit this fall.
IGN got their hands on the title recently and their impressions are quite good. The AI has been ramped up considerably. Now, instead of just eating bullets or running aimlessly, enemies will seek environmental cover. Apparently, enemies are also intuitive enough to seek water if they catch on fire.
The improvements don’t just stop with AI. The narrative is being tweaked as well and will no longer revolve around phones. For me, this is a great relief. It’s good to know that Monolith is taking their “true” sequel to F.E.A.R. seriously. My only question at this point consists of many different ways I can light enemies on fire. The more flames I can spit out with telekinesis, objects, and guns the better.
