In a bizarre but delightful meeting of the minds, Square Enix has released a 20-minute-plus video interview between Final Fantasy VII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase and pro-wrestling superstar and AEW Executive Vice-President Kenny Omega.

Omega, a lifelong video game devotee, sat down with Kitase to discuss the latter’s notable career in the gaming industry, reflecting on memories of Final Fantasy VII and its indelible characters, such as Cloud Strife and the villainous Sephiroth. Omega even manages to squeeze in a question about 1998 PlayStation release Parasite Eve, a beloved franchise that fans frequently reference when wish-listing sequels and remakes. Here’s to hope.

It’s a great little interview, with Omega coming across as both enthusiastic and charming throughout. Hopefully, as teased at the end of the clip, we’ll see more gaming-related interviews from The Cleaner going forward… Umm… He is still The Cleaner… right?

Final Fantasy VII Remake launches on PS4 April 10. A demo is available to download from the PSN Store right now. Kenny Omega features in Fire Pro Wrestling World, and can be seen in action on All Elite Wrestling’s weekly show AEW Dynamite.
