To no surprise, Sony has announced MotorStorm Apocalypse for the PlayStation 3.

But don’t call it “post-apocalyptic”; the game will take place during the apocalypse, with pieces of the city — inspired by the West Coast, and the Bay Area in particular — being torn up as you race. Players will race on the rooftops of collapsing buildings, as well as through subways and sewers.

Apocalypse will not only support sixteen players online, but four-player split-screen as well, along with combinations of the two (three on the same screen, with the rest of the players against 12 online, for instance).

Plenty of more details can be found over at the PlayStation Blog. We hope to have more at E3.
