A man from Kentucky has been arrested after convincing an 11-year-old girl to send nude photos of herself via Sony’s black box o’ Blu-ray. In a world before Killzone 2, we could have made a clever joke about how PS3 fans have no games to play, so are resorting to sending each other kiddy porn. Unfortunately, we cannot make that hilarious gag.
Anthony Scott Oshea of Somerset, Kentucky has been charged with three felony counts, including promotion of child pornography and online solicitation of a minor, after not only downloading the images to his PS3, but then using the console to distribute the pictures to people in at least five different states. Pedophiles are not very clever, in case you haven’t noticed.
Parents really do need to keep a close eye on their children when the Internet is involved. The very fact that an 11-year-old girl was allowed access to an online PS3 is worrying enough as it is, let alone the idea that she was able to take and send nude photos of herself. It’s all very well for parents to sit back and demand that the games industry shows responsiblility for children, but that’s not a free pass for those parents to demonstrate no care whatsoever.
