What do you get when you combine Half-Life 2 (the finest FPS of all time) with the lovingly hand crafted portals from Portal? Apparently you get the above video clip.

Primotech sent us notice of a piece they have created to show off the inevitable melding of the two stories via the magic of hacking the Source engine. Not content with merely showing off their new toys, Primotech has also included instructions on how you can carry the portal gun into battle in the original Half-Life 2, Episodes 1 and 2 and Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. They’ve yet to crack the secrets of using the physics-defying cannon in multiplayer, but it’s really only a matter of time before someone discovers a way to make that happen as well.

As cool as all of this is, the obvious question one has to ask is: how long will it be before someone manages to pull the portals into Counterstrike Source or Team Fortress 2? The Valve Anti Cheat system probably has a way to detect the opening of rifts in the time-space continuum, but if Valve hasn’t yet prepared for this you’ve going to see a lot of players whining about Spys who can now turn invisible, disguise themselves as a demoman and teleport their butterfly knives directly into the spines of opposing players.
