Portal 2 boasts ‘complete’ Move support on PS3 (Update)

[Update] Valve just contacted us with a clarification — Portal 2 will NOT support PlayStation Move, saying that quote was “lost in translation”. The game will still, however, contain cloud support and the free code for the PC version of the game.

Valve has declared that Portal 2 on PS3 will feature “complete” PlayStation Move support as part of an apology for its past lack of PS3 support. I think I’d have preferred Left 4 Dead but hey, it’s better than nothing, right?

“We made a mistake back then and gave the Orange Box console versions to an external team,” explains Valve’s Chet Faliszek. “They did a good job, but didn’t quite achieve the same quality level that we have at Valve. Now everything happens in-house, we created a special console department just for that.

“So the move to the PlayStation 3 comes late — we’re sorry for that. As a small compensation we have PS3-exclusive cloud saving, a free code for PC and complete PlayStation Move support. Look at it as compensation for Left 4 Dead.

“Move is also a completely new experience for us, thus the system isn’t fully integrated yet.”

It seems that the PS3 version is definitely worth picking up, perhaps over the Xbox 360 version. Hell, the free PC code makes it sound like the sweetest deal of all the formats. Still, we’ll have to see if the general population feels the same way — speaking of which, what version are you plugging to get?
