Popular mobile game QuizUp is getting gameshow adaptations in two countries

Now yelling at your TV has a purpose!

QuizUp is the main reason I feel I’m at my most intelligent when taking a monster shit. It’s a strangely compulsive and massively popular trivia app that pits you against other players in short quizzes. There’re tons of themes for the quizzes, from your bog-standard general knowledge through to naming Disney characters. And now it’s getting a game show.

US network NBC has announced plans to adapt the app into a live game show, with a slight twist. The reason it’s live is that people will be able to play along at home and try and beat contestants. Imagine that really awesome 1 vs. 100 game they had on Xbox 360 a few years ago, except you get to see them cry when they lose all the money they’ve won.

But fear not, fellow Brits. ITV has also ordered a pilot of their own version of the show as well, with the same format as the NBC version. This version will be produced by NBCUniversal International Studios, but will obviously air on ITV.

Neither version of the show has a set air-date yet, nor have hosts been confirmed. I don’t know about you, but I reckon the entire success of the UK version will hinge on whether or not Bradley Walsh hosts.

So, think you’d be willing to play along with a game show at home? Or is QuizUp resigned to your toilet trips only?
