Pokken Tournament has outsold Street Fighter V in the US

*Based on physical retail sales only, obviously

Pokkén Tournament on Wii U has outsold Street Fighter V on PS4 in the US.

The news — which originates from the NPD Group US Games Industry report for April 2016 — was shared on Twitter by industry analyst ZhugeEX.

The numbers — which aren’t specified — don’t include digital sales, which means retail sales on Steam, the Wii U eShop and the PlayStation Store are not counted here. But when questioned further on this, ZhugeEX added: “based on the physical numbers, it won’t make much of a difference”.

Hmm.

If you’ve spent time with both Pokkén Tournament and Street Fighter V, do this surprise you? Or is it inevitable that a Pokémon game with a huge cult following would boast bigger sales?
