Pokemon Go now lets certain Pokemon evolve through trading

The Gen 5 roster just got bigger

Pokémon Go is finally adapting the trade-based evolution mechanic from the mainline series.

As of today, you can trade certain established Pokémon like Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler, and Haunter to wipe out the Candy cost needed to evolve them. What’s more, if you’ve gotten any of them through trading in the past, you’re covered – the no-Candy evolution bonus will retroactively apply.

The game also added a range of monsters hailing from the Unova region, several of which – Boldore, Gurdurr, Karrablast, and Shelmet – can take advantage of the new “trade evolution” perk.

Accelgor is a hella cool Pokémon and Gigalith is a tank, so consider making the necessary trades.

Through trade evolution, qualifying Pokemon can evolve without spending Candy.

You’ll also have more fifth-generation Pokémon to hunt in the wild and fresh eggs to hatch.
