Pokemon Go is getting 80 new Pokemon from Gen 2, also known as ‘the best gen’

Huge update coming ‘this week’

If you thought Pokémon Go was a dying fad then Niantic may have something to say about that. Coming “later this” week is the first huge update for the popular mobile game that took off last year. The most significant addition will be the addition of 80 new Pokémon from the Johto region aka Generation 2 aka the best generation. Unlike the handful of Johto Pokémon that were added in December who could only be obtained using eggs, these will be found in the wild.

Other updates include new avatar clothing items, “new encounter gameplay,” evolution items which are required to make some Pokémon evolve, and two new types of berries: Nanab berries that slow down Pokémon and the Pinap berry that “doubles the amount of candy you get if your next catch attempt is a success.”

I love Generation 2 and have the most nostalgia for it, but I’m not sure it’s enough to entice me to play. While I may not personally enjoy the game all that much, I appreciate it and what its doing. I hope for its continued success, especially so there’s more limelight given to Johto.
