Pokemon Black and White coming March 6, 2011

Nintendo has announced that its never-ending Pokemon saga will continue on March 6, when Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version for the Nintendo DS hit shelves.

The press release announcing this momentous occasion probably reads similarly to whatever Nintendo was saying in 1999 when it shipped Pokémon Gold and Silver: the games “feature new Pokemon that players can catch, train and battle as they progress through the game, and some Pokémon can only be caught in on version of the game.”

Yup, sounds like a Pokémon game. White version will get the legendary Zekrom, while Black will receive Reshiram. The two versions will also have different  areas “for the first time in the series” and changing seasons (which will be home to different Pokémon), which took Nintendo 15 years to implement.

As you can tell, not a huge Pokémon guy, but let me be fair: these are solid, fun games, and Nintendo surely has another blockbuster on its hands. Get excited… the next Pokémon set of games will probably be in 3D!
