Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On is out on Nintendo Switch today

Yay or Neigh?

Heads up! As part of today’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On, the previously Apple Arcade exclusive remake of the 2014 3DS title, is releasing on Nintendo Switch today.

I played the hell out of Pocket Card Jockey when it released on 3DS all those years ago. I can remember being pretty mesmerized as I trained up the best horse possible. I never did beat it, however. I remember hitting some resistance that I couldn’t overcome.

Everything else about that game is a blur to me. That’s basically it. I can remember cards, horses, and the fact that I couldn’t complete the game.

The game is like if you crossbred the Japan-only Derby Stallions series with Solitaire. You breed horses, then race them while doing card stuff to win. Really, I don’t remember what kind of card stuff, but if you watch the trailer in the Nintendo Direct, maybe you can grok it better than I can.

If my praise of the original version isn’t enough, our old pal CJ Andriesson said that Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On was “already a contender for [his] personal Game of the Year” when it released on Apple Arcade last year.

Anyway, I know what I’m doing today. Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On releases today on Switch. Now, excuse me while I keep refreshing the eShop page.
