PS5 State of Play – September 2026: All PlayStation announcements and games

It’s been a pretty quiet summer for PlayStation. Not much going on, eh?

Yeah, no. The summer of “dead discs” has been a tumultuous one for Sony after its loud and hated decision was revealed on July 1, and now it all culminates in a State of Play doubleheader in the early morning in the US to begin September. I’m sure the live chat will be very peaceful and civil.

First, a regular State of Play will bring “updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and our third-party partners, concluding with an extended look at the vast world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation from our friends at Square Enix.” Then, a State of Play Japan hosted by Yuki Kaji “will offer deep dives into upcoming games from game studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements, and more.”

Will Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet appear? Will any of the publisher’s long-dormant studios have a new game to announce? Will Sony address the massive elephant in the room? We’ll find out soon.

Resident Evil movie clip

We kick things off with a new look at Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie, which is in theaters in two weeks. Austin Abrams’ character comes out of a sewer and is walking through Raccoon City with a gun as zombies are hurling themselves off of rooftops. They are falling all around him and exploding, and he’s now sprinting and screaming in terror. It’s gnarly!

Marvel’s Wolverine – Launch trailer

The final look at Wolverine shows off new Sentinels, Omega Red, Sabretooth, Mystique, and more mutants ahead of its launch in 12 days.

Ghost of Yotei: Most Wanted trailer

Singleplayer combat survival DLC for Ghost of Yotei is coming, featuring new abilities, multiple playable characters, roguelike elements, and leveling up. And Ghost of Tsushima’s Jin Sakai is back as one of the heroes you can play as! It’s launching on Oct. 1.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance trailer

A new look at Monster Hunter Wilds’ upcoming DLC expansion teases a great dragon battle. It’s due to launch in 2027.

Metro 2039 – New gameplay

PS5 Pro gameplay for the upcoming Metro game shows a grungy, post-apocalyptic Moscow and incredible graphical fidelity. It’s launching on Feb. 4, 2027.

Maneater 2 – Announcement trailer

A new adventure in the shark simulator where you swim around and eat and destroy everything in your path is coming in 2027.

Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown trailer

One of 2026’s big hits is getting an expansion with a new singleplayer story content where you can build out your home like it’s The Sims and swim underwater. It drops on Oct. 15.

LEGO PlayStation

A LEGO set where you can rebuild the PS1! This one’s going to disappear off shelves. It’s 1,911 pieces, including dioramas inside, including homages to Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. It lights up, it’s got a controller, and more. It looks awesome.

Final Fantasy Resonance – New trailer and demo

An original Final Fantasy game inspired by the franchise is being brought to life in stunning HD-2D quality, a la Octopath Traveler, but with a twist. Sephiroth is here, and he looks like a bad-ass boss fight, but it all looks gorgeous. The game has a demo out now and launches on Oct. 22.

Gundam Rogue Orbit – New trailer

A bad-ass action game set in the legendary anime universe, it gives the vibes of Platinum Games combat and is launching on March 5.

Hunter’s Moon – Announce trailer

Indies: it’s where the heart is. A trio of new indie games that caught the eye of PlayStation begins with a first-person folk horror game. It’s coming on Oct. 26.

Uncanyon – Reveal trailer

Annapurna Interactive’s next is “a forgotten world filled with fantastical lands and mysterious puzzle-filled ruins.” It launches in 2027.

Keeper – PS5 trailer

Double Fine’s previously-exclusive-to-Xbox game is coming to PS5…today!

Rev.NOIR – New trailer

Anime aesthetic, action combat. A new IP from Konami, it’s looking pretty interesting thus far, and it’s launching in 2027.

Rhapsody in Scarlet – Reveal trailer

1920s New York is the setting for a fantastical adventure, showcasing some wild combat, weird creatures, and an adorable protagonist with a beast-like companion that seems to be able to transform into different creatures.

Coming soon to PS Plus

Mycopunk is coming to Game Catalog, but the PS Classics Catalog gets Megaman X: Command Mission, Dino Crisis 2, and the original Ratchet & Clank.

Saros Zenith – Free update

Overlord Rush mode is coming to Housemarque’s latest, along with New Game Plus, and changes to make the game more accessible and replayable. It’s coming later this year.

Gran Turismo 7 – Spec IV update

A series of updates coming to GT7 will add new content such as different tracks and more.

Until Dawn 2 – New trailer

The unexpected sequel to the horror survival game teases some terrifying choices and a bunch of teens trying to go viral. It launches on Jan. 28, 2027.

GTA 6 DualSense controllers

Enter Vice City in style this November with some themed controllers for the next GTA.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation – Release date and gameplay

The finale of the trilogy is coming on April 8, 2027. Gameplay reveals open-world exploration and combat on Chocobo-back, Weapons to fight, the Fits costume/job system, and more. While exploring the open world, you can switch to any of the party’s characters at any time.

The Highwind airship will be available in-game early, and Wutai is a new location to explore. Gongaga is among the locations from previous games you can return to as well, and all of them have Odd Jobs and quests to take on.
