In less than one month Play for Japan has raised over $100,000 to hand over as relief for the victims of the recent disasters in Japan. Lots of really great items went up for auction during that time. I really wanted Akira Yamaoka’s guitar. A Lara Croft arcade unit also went up, as did a life-sized Modern Warfare 2 Ghost statue.
Beyond this, Yamaoka partnered with other game music composers to create Play For Japan: The Album. That’s coming this month to iTunes.
It’s great to see the game industry come together for this cause.
