Later this year, Double Fine Productions will release Brutal Legend and in terms of gameplay, it’s about as far from studio founder Tim Schafer’s roots as you can get. But more on that this Friday, when I’m officially allowed to spill the beans on the studio’s epic ode to heavy metal.

Right now, though, Double Fine has a little treat for you — an old-school, point-and-click adventure starring none other than Schafer himself. Called Host Master and the Conquest of Humor, the game has a digital Schafer getting ready to host the 2009 GDC Awards, searching for the perfect on-stage jokes. There’s 22 in total, all of which can be found by “walking to,” “picking up,” “turning on,” “turning off,” and all of the other staples of classic point-and-click adventures.

It’s free to play online, and you can check it out this very second instead of working, going to class, or feeding your child. Let us know how you do.
