Plants vs. Zombies 2 has been delayed

No longer launching on July 18th

If you were waiting for Plants vs. Zombies 2 next month, prepare to be disappointed: the official PvZ Twitter account notes that the sequel will not hit its target date of July 18th, instead launching “later in the summer.” It appears as if the delay is not due to a simultaneously launch for other platforms, as the game is still planned for an iOS-only launch, with other platforms at a later date. Bummer!

Personally, I’m just waiting to see if PvZ 2 abuses the microtransaction system, and given the fact that the game is launching for free, I can see EA taking advantage of it. I really hope that doesn’t happen, as it would be a horrible way to treat such a storied and respected franchise. EA, if you’re reading this, use the delay to add in a “buy it all” option for those of us who just want the full game.
