Following the recent wave of layoffs at Sony Online Entertainment, it was pointed out that two new MMOs “based on the PlanetSide and Everquest properties” were safe from suffering the same fate as The Agency.
While PlanetSide Next is safe from cancellation, PlanetSide Universe spoke with SOE president John Smedley to learn more about the game’s future. Smedley shared: “PlanetSide Next is getting more resources and will be out a little later in the year but we are pulling out all the stops to make it great.”
So, a renewed focus on the new PlanetSide game and as a result of all the turmoil the game will be out a bit later, but will probably be all the better for it. Apparently more news will hit next week, according to the director of Global Community Relations.
