This weekend, I posted a story found on NeoGAF claiming that Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford said that Aliens: Colonial Marines would not be released in 2011. Pitchford has popped his head up on on Eurogamer to refute the comments and explain that he never said that.

“I am certain that I haven’t discussed anything specific regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines with anyone beyond emphasising how passionate I am about the title and how committed my studio and I are to making it great,” explains the velvet prince. “It looks to me like whomever made that post on NeoGAF made an interpretation that could be misleading or inaccurate.”

Pitchford also namechecked your humble writer specifically: “I respect Jim and his audience and I’m a little surprised he didn’t bother to try to email myself or our folks before extrapolating that NeoGAF post even further. Jim even referenced Borderlands 2? What’s Borderlands 2? Bah! And El Oh El!”

Here’s the thing though. I would have emailed Randy first, but he never did respond to me the last time I emailed him about the game so … what’s a guy to do? In all honesty I do apologize for getting huffy over Colonial Marines this past Sunday, but I promise Randy will be getting plenty of emails from me in future. Lots of them. Disturbing ones. Sometimes I’ll even ask about Colonial Marines

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to play Borderlands 2!
