The Quality of Life Part 2 update for Phasmophobia is officially slated for launch on Aug. 25. An official launch time hasn’t been shared, but the ghost hunting game sticks to a very reliable release schedule, which means we can likely expect to see it launch at 7am CT.

Sometimes, delays do occur, which could potentially push it back by a few hours. It’s fairly rare, though, and usually minimal, so you can expect to dive in fairly close to this time.

The Quality of Life Part 2 update is the second patch focused on addressing community feedback following the player character update and overall improving upon gameplay features. • New restricted maps – New, smaller versions of the Prison, Brownstone High School, and Point Hope maps are being introduced in this update. They’ll function similarly to the Sunny Meadows Restricted location, which means they’ll block off much of the map to make the explorable area smaller, thus allowing you to complete quicker investigations.
    • Point Hope Restricted will be the only variant, and at this location, you’ll be able to access up to the dining room, which means the first three floors of the map.
    • Both Prison Restricted and Brownstone High School Restricted will have multiple variants, including some that count as small maps, and others that qualify as medium. You’ll be loaded into a random one in each contract.
  • Media duplicate signals – There will now be visual indicators to help signify that the unique media you’re attempting to capture is a duplicate without needing to check the journal. Depending on the equipment you’re using, the indicators look different.
    • Tier I Photo Cameras display a yellow LED light.
    • Tier II and Tier III Photo Cameras and all Tiers of Video Cameras display a faded overlay instead of the usual bold white text.
    • Tier I Sound Recorder lowers the brightness of the volume indicators.
    • Tier II and Tier III Sound Recorders display faded sound waves.
  • Ghost type selection – In custom matches, you can now select the specific ghost type you want to face. This feature is a great way to learn more about each entity you need to work to identify, as all of them have subtle, unofficial behaviors and clues you can watch out for.

  • Shared journal data – All players can now see the evidence and ghost type logged by their teammates within their own journal. This makes keeping track of data collection easier, as you no longer need to ask what your fellow ghost hunters have logged; you can simply check at any point.
  • New “Items we’ve found” section – In the journal, the keys section has been updated to instead be an “Items we’ve found” section. You’ll find key assets you collect around the map listed here, like keys, bones, and seasonal event items.
  • Deceased character appearance changes – Upon dying, players’ dead bodies now have greyer skin and misty white eyes. The voice chat also now cuts out as soon as players have their necks snapped by the ghost.
  • Bug fixes and smaller changes – This update also includes lots of bug fixes that haven’t been revealed yet, plus some smaller changes you can find in the official Quality of Life Part 2 preview notes.

There’s plenty to keep you busy while you wait for this update to arrive. If you’re unsure what to do, consider braving the weekly challenge, finding all 13 Willow Street rework Cursed Possession locations, and learning how to identify a Deildegast.
