As you are no doubt aware, some videogame music can be incredible. Combine that with an equally amazing stage to perform it on and you’ve got something really unique. That’s exactly what’s happening on August 20 at the Sydney Opera House, when legendary game designer and composer Masaya Matsuura will perform live. The creator of seminal rhythm game PaRappa The Rapper will be showcasing some of his past and present work from his games and studio, NanaOn-Sha.

It’s always great when videogame music is played live. Typically, it can prove to be a celebration of under-appreciated music that wouldn’t otherwise see the light of day, as well as recalling emotions from the game itself. But considering Matsuura was also the brains behind Vib-Ribbon and UmJammer Lammy, you can probably be guaranteed some audio-visual entertainment on a whole other level.

In addition to the live show, he’ll also be interviewed about his videogames and the ideas behind them. Basically, you need to see this show.
