Any creature-capturing game, Palworld included, requires you to have something with which to capture said creatures. In Palworld, you need Spheres. As the game progresses and you begin encountering higher-level Pals, it starts to get confusing. Here’s what you need to know about every Sphere.
In total, there are currently eight types of Sphere available to craft and use in Palworld and each of them uses specific materials and higher level Spheres need to be made on certain workbenches. While basic Pal Spheres can be crafted at a Makeshift Workbench, you’ll need to unlock the Sphere Assembly Line II or even an Advanced Sphere Assembly Line before you can craft the really hard-hitting Spheres.
Each upgrade in Sphere gives you additional Capture Power, something which is much needed if you’re heading out to capture strong or even Legendary Pals.
Pal Sphere
Capture Power: 7
These blue Spheres will be the very first type of Sphere you’ll use and, if you’re lucky, they’ll get you pretty far into the game without feeling a need to upgrade too soon. These are best to use on Pals that are between levels one and ten, although they can be used for higher-level Pals if you’ve got a surplus and don’t mind wasting some.
To make them, you only need a Makeshift Workbench, which unlocks at level two along with Pal Spheres themselves, and the following ingredients per Sphere:
- 1 Paldium Fragment
- 5 Wood
- 5 Stone
Alternatively, these Spheres can be found pretty often lying on the floor across the map. Another option is to capture some Vixys and put them into your Ranch because Pal Spheres are one of its guaranteed Ranch drops.
Mega Sphere
Capture Power: 14
Before you can start making green Mega Spheres, you’ll need to unlock and build a Sphere Workbench. This piece of kit unlocks at level 14 alongside the Sphere itself and you can use it to craft both Pal Spheres and Mega Spheres from this point onwards.
Mega Spheres are best used for catching Pals that are between level 10 and 20, but if you’ve got plenty you can use them for any Pal that you come across, although bear in mind that if you use this on a Pal whose level is much higher, they might outright refuse to get in the Sphere.
The materials needed for crafting Mega Spheres are:
- 2 Paldium Fragments
- 1 Ingot
- 7 Wood
- 7 Stone
As you can see, Spheres quickly become pretty resource-heavy items to craft. Fortunately, you can sometimes find Mega Spheres lying on the ground in the wild, usually in higher-level areas.
Giga Sphere
Capture Power: 20
Once you reach level 20 and want to start capturing higher-level Pals, it’s a good idea to stock up on Giga Spheres to up your chances. These yellow Spheres are most suitable for Pals that are between level 20 and 30, though you could get lucky and capture higher-level Pals with them after a few tries.
Giga Spheres can also be crafted at a Sphere Workbench and need the following materials:
- 2 Paldium Fragments
- 2 Ingots
- 7 Wood
- 7 Stone
Hyper Sphere
Capture Power: 26
In order to craft the orange Hyper Sphere, you’ll need to first unlock it, as well as the Sphere Assembly Line, at level 27. This Sphere is most suited for capturing Pals between levels 30 and 40, so if you’re venturing out towards Obsidian Mountain or the Desiccated Desert, be sure to take lots of these with you.
The materials needed to craft Hyper Spheres are:
- 3 Paldium Fragments
- 3 Ingots
- 10 Wood
- 2 Cement
Ultra Sphere
Capture Power: 32
The pink Ultra Sphere can also be crafted at the Sphere Assembly Line but you’ll need to reach level 35 before you can unlock it. Ultra Spheres are most suitable for capturing Pals between the levels of 40 and 50, though probably not best if you’re heading out in search of Legendary Pals. You could get lucky, though, if you take enough and don’t mind throwing away some resources in the process.
To make an Ultra Sphere, you’ll need:
- 5 Paldium Fragments
- 5 Refined Ingots
- 2 Carbon Fiber
- 3 Cement
Legendary Sphere
Capture Power: 37
As the name suggests, these Spheres are best suited for capturing the level 50 Legendary Alpha Pals, though they don’t offer a guarantee that you’ll manage. Before you can craft this purple Sphere, you’ll need to unlock the Sphere Assembly Line II at level 37 and then wait until level 44 to unlock this Sphere.
Here’s everything you’ll need to make Legendary Spheres:
- 10 Paldium Fragments
- 5 Pal Metal Ingots
- 3 Carbon Fiber
- 5 Cement
Ultimate Sphere
Capture Power: 43
Added to Palworld as part of the Sakurajima update in June 2024, Ultimate Spheres are best used for Pals that are between level 50 and 55, although they work on Pals of any level it’s probably best not to waste them on low-level pals due to the resource-heavy recipe to make them. The recipe is unlocked using 5 Technology Points at level 51, and you’ll need a Sphere Assembly Line II or Advanced Sphere Assembly Line to make them.
Here’s the recipe for Ultimate Spheres:
- 20 Paldium Fragments
- 10 Pal Metal Ingots
- 5 Carbon Fiber
- 5 Plasteel
Exotic Sphere
Capture Power: 48
Added as part of the Feybreak update in December 2024, the Exotic Sphere is designed for the highest-level Pals currently available to capture, and you’ll need a lot of hard-to-get materials if you want to make some. Best reserved for capturing Alpha Pals, Exotic Spheres can be unlocked at level 56 costing 5 Technology Points. They can only be made using an Advanced Sphere Assembly Line.
Here are all of the resources you’ll need to gather to make one Exotic Sphere:
- 30 Paldium Fragments
- 2 Plasteel
- 7 Carbon Fiber
- 1 Hexolite
