Last year a group of former Telltale and Disney employees came together to form Night School Studio. At GDC this morning, the indie developer unveiled its first project, “supernatural teen thriller” Oxenfree.

The studio’s Telltale DNA is readily apparent from the trailer, with a focus on giving the player dialogue options and delivering an intriguing narrative. I’m really digging the vibrant, jade-heavy palette, and the two-dimensional gameplay allows for a lot of high quality artwork to serve as the backdrop. Perhaps that’s the Disney influence in practice.

Oxenfree is set to release some time this year. No platforms have been confirmed, nor is it known if this will be release episodically or traditionally.
