Overwatch gets ‘high bandwidth’ mode update on PC

Blizzard’s Overwatch team has always been upfront with how its netcode works, but needed a ton of time to test its high-bandwidth version before it moved beyond just custom games. That time is now, as the patch is live on PC.

It brings the tickrate from 21 to 63, which will help make shots more accurate, and the game will automatically grab your PC’s connection speed and adjust accordingly. Note that you might have to slightly change how you play a certain character, as specific abilities may be a little more difficult to hit — though you’re less likely to be hit around corners.

There’s no word on when this will come to consoles. But as most Blizzard fans know, the company is able to instantly update its games on PC first seeing as it’s all ran through its proprietary technology. That, and the console editions of Overwatch will be balanced independently.
