Operation Rainfall to pitch Pandora’s Tower to publishers

Recommended Videos

After using two similar campaigns with Xenoblade Chronicles and The Last Story, Operation Rainfall is trying something new with their approach to get Pandora’s Tower published in the US. In addition to fans rallying to pester Nintendo of America directly (which absolutely worked last time) on Facebook, Twitter, over the phone, and email, Operation Rainfall wants to pitch Pandora’s Tower to publishers themselves.

So, how exactly are they going to achieve that? They break down the nuances of the plan over on their blog post, but basically what it comes down to is if they can afford it or not. Aksys Games, Atlus, NIS America, Rising Star, UTV Ignition, and XSEED are the six publishers they plan on pitching to. It will cost $100 to pitch to each publisher, leaving a grand total of $600.

That’s why Operation Rainfall is asking their supporters for donations. Anyone who donates $5 will get a download of a high-definition wallpaper pack, and anyone who donates $10 will get the wallpaper pack and a collector’s case big enough to hold the three Operation Rainfall titles. The only catch is this plan is not a guaranteed thing, and the donations will be used as they come in. As a result, you CANNOT receive a refund even if Pandora’s Tower is picked up or not.

It seems weird to me that Operation Rainfall is going this way about it, but they have proven in the past that they can be effective and get these titles over here, so I have no doubt in my mind that this will work. Especially when companies like Atlus have a history with localizing seemingly niche titles and getting very strong sales in return. Plus, it would just be cool to have that collector’s case. To own a piece of history that symbolizes fans coming together and getting three JRPGs brought over to the US would be truly amazing. Besides, what’s a measly $10 for a great cause?
