On Your Tail is an investigative life sim with dioramas

Humble Games and Memorable Games have announced their investigative life sim, On Your Tail, for a 2024 release window.

I like life sims and being made to feel smart for completing simple tasks. On Your Tail has you step into the hooves of Diana, an “intrepid young detective,” as she tries to unravel a mystery set within a seaside town. I guess the mystery isn’t too pressing, though, since you can also spend time on the beach, make friends, and go fishing. Crime can wait; it’s time to relax.

The detective game genre is getting a little crowded these days, but I can’t help but get excited by the dioramas. You collect clues by investigating, which take the form of cards that you play in a diorama sub-game. It looks cute. Who doesn’t love a good diorama?

As an added bonus, in the Indie World Direct, Andrea, the game’s executive producer, wears an incredible shirt. It is, as Destructoid’s own Eric “Lightspeed” Van Allen refers to it, “Indie World Dip.”

On Your Tail is set to release in 2024. The Direct only mentions a Switch release, but there’s a Steam store page up for it, so it’s at least coming to PC, as well.
