On XBLA today: Two Doritos freebies and Bomberman

Recommended Videos

I know what you’re thinking. “More of those Doritos-branded games? Really?” Much to my surprise, both Doritos Crash Course and Harms Way, which hit Xbox LIVE Arcade today, are worth downloading. Granted, they’re completely free, but they’re actually enjoyable for what they are.

Crash Course (pictured above) is essentially Wipeout: The Game, except it’s kind of better than the actual Wipeout game for Wii. Ouch. It’s worth it alone to see your Avatar get beat up. Harms Way, on the other hand, is a seemingly straightforward racing game with power-ups.

The twist is you can either play as a racer or man a turret. This mechanic is well implemented, and I can’t say that I’ve ever seen anything quite like it before. As for the non-free XBLA games, it’s just Bomberman Battlefest ($10) this week. If you enjoyed Bomberman LIVE, you’ll probably dig this one too.
