Oh, the horror: This year’s Spike VGAs won’t have a host

While far from perfect, the Spike Video Game Awards are pretty much all we’ve got these days for our mainstream game award show coverage. People have been quick to point out how silly the show is, but personally, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I’ll side with fun, albeit somewhat embarrassing antics over snobbish drivel any day. Since we’ve already got an impressive line-up of reasons to tune in to the VGAs this year, what with the so-called world premieres and all, I figured you’d want to know about the show’s host, or lack thereof.

No Jack Black being his usual zany self, no Samuel L. Jackson making you turn down the volume, and no host, period. At least, that’s the current plan. Big Download was told by a rep that they are going without a host similar to the this year’s Scream Awards.

Having only watched two minutes of the Scream Awards myself, I can’t really relate to the comparison. Hell, can anyone? Regardless, watch the VGAs for the exclusives, or wait a few hours to find them all over the blogs later on in the day.
