Oddworld: Soulstorm is the latest game to go Epic Games Store exclusive

Oddworld’s Exodus

Oddworld: Soulstorm, the long-awaited remake of Oddworld: Exoddus, is the latest game to become an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. In a post on the official Oddworld Twitter account, Lorne Lanning (president of developer Oddworld Inhabitants) wrote, “Soulstorm is our most ambitious game ever and we are committed to creating a great game that meets the highest level of quality. But to create the version of Soulstorm we want, and you deserve, we needed additional financial assistance.”

To that end, Abe’s return will be coming to Epic’s storefront when it launches next year. While that will likely be a contentious decision for some, it’s likely that Soulstorm would end up delayed again without Epic’s backing. Considering how many times it has been delayed before, I’m surprised the game wasn’t outright canceled by this point.
