Want to know how Oculus Rift is doing? Well, dev kits aren’t a great indicator, but at least we know about how many of those have been shipped. Oculus Rift told TechCrunch that they’ve sold about 25,000 dev kit 2.0 units so far, taking their total number up to about 85,000 units. That’s pretty good, right?

The pre-orders are still ongoing, with shipments expected in July. Oh, Oculus-chan!

Again, this is not even close to a consumer product, so it’s not really a solid indication of how they’re doing. In fact, Oculus Rift’s founder, Palmer Luckey, told Destructoid that they hope consumers aren’t buying these units. The good stuff is coming later, he says.
