[Destructoid’s Director of Communications Hamza Aziz asked Jonathan Holmes to make a show called ‘Sup, Holmes?’ so that Destructoid could later sell a t-shirt that says ‘Sup, Holmes?’ on it. This is that show. Missed the live recording? The full episode is above. Download the audio-only podcast version of this episode or subscribe to the podcast feed. Find more episodes here.]

Have you played Octodad? If not, your soul may be in need of some repair. A fully functioning human soul is instinctively drawn to all free videogames about octopuses disguised as a family men. That’s just science.

Octodad was created by equal parts dedication to craft and total surrender to inspiration. At least, that’s what I believe Phil Tibootski (president of Young Horses, developer of Octodad) means when he says that while Halo helped inspire him to become a game developer, that he and his team are willing to entertain any and all ideas for potential new games. I think that’s also why Phil was so rad at freestyling. You’ll have to check out the end of the full episode to see what I mean.

Thank again to Phil for being on the show, and come back soon for a highlights clip from our interview with Adam (Atomic) Saltsman, developer of Canabalt and The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire.
