OC ReMixer halc goes aquatic with Hydrocity album

OC ReMix alumnus halc, who you may remember recently produced a Pilotwings tribute, has drawn inspiration from his musical peers in order to release an original album called Hydrocity through Dj CUTMAN’s GameChops net label. The title, named after the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 zone, submerges you in an aquatic ambience formed through chiptune beats, FM funk, and a dash of dubstep. halc even enlists the aid of fellow OC ReMixers Level 99 and WillRock on a couple of tracks.

The album, which carries a “name your price” tag, is almost solely original material, though it includes an arrangement of the Hydrocity Zone theme — ironically, it’s not track 2, “Hydrocity,” but rather track 7, “New Atlantis.” The remainder of the songs are peppered with sound effects from games like Sonic (of course) and Ocarina of Time.

Since we’re on the subject, how do you pronounce “Hydrocity” anyway? I believe it’s supposed to have the accent on the “Hy” syllable and a long “O” sound. However, I’ve always read it with a short “O” sound as in “Metropolis” or, more appropriately, how Megamind says “Metro City.”
