Not a joke: Plants vs. Zombies leads to prison escape

Recommended Videos

Have you ever been so entranced by a game, it felt — or didn’t feel, rather — as if time itself started to rush past you? A certain Filipino police officer can certainly relate.

As reported by Global Nation, five inmates escaped from a police precinct in Cagayan de Oro City when, well, the on-duty officer was apparently so caught up in a match of Plants vs. Zombies, he didn’t notice them grabbing the keys and running for it.

One prisoner, Reynard Marturillas, is still on the lam. It’s believed that he used a garbage truck as his getaway vehicle. Really, folks, you can’t make this stuff up. To the guard’s credit, at least he was playing one of PopCap’s better games.
