Nominees announced for The Game Awards 2015

Fallout, Metal Gear, Bloodborne

The Game Awards, the closest thing the video game industry has to film’s Academy Awards, is scheduled for December 3. With only three weeks until the event, nominees have been announced for the 22 categories.

After the usual categories highlighting genres, there are some near the bottom focused on the community side rather than the development side. Three categories are dedicated to eSports, with two highlighting players and one filled with years-old games (and no mention of Rocket League!). There is also the “Trending Gamer” category, featuring a bunch of YouTubers, and “Best Fan Creation,” looking at mods and community projects.

Game of the Year nominees include From Software’s Bloodborne, Bethesda’s Fallout 4, Kojima Production’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker, and CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Developer of the Year nominees are redundant, with those five studios making the cut.
