I wrote this game off as a Cooking Mama rip-off early on, but the screens and details coming out here lately slowly changed my mind. If anything, this is a “rip” of the Food Network television show, and I mean that in a good way.
I’m not feeling the trailer, though. Sure, the mosaic of little screens shows off a lot of the game play, but who can tell what’s really going on here? And what is the Chairman yelling in the background? He sounds angry! I would be too if they modeled me like that.
The characters don’t really look like their real-life counterparts. Well, Alton Brown kind of does. But the Chairman is obviously deformed, though. At least the in-game food looks good, and it seems that you can dress your own plate to your liking. That’s cool.
I’m still looking forward to playing this. It remains to be seen how creativity with the theme ingredient plays into the game. Will it be preset dishes you choose from? And then just go through the motions? I hope not.
