No pools or toddlers in The Sims 4 at launch

Well that’s crummy

The new Build Mode for The Sims 4 looks fantastic in that it just works — you aren’t fighting with the tools to design something halfway decent looking. There’s one problem, though: no pools!

In a blog post, The Sims Studio said “it’s not possible for us to include every single feature and piece of content we added to The Sims 3 over the last five years,” but, again, no pools? They’re such an iconic part of these games for those of us who like to torment their Sims. Another feature that won’t be making the cut, at least at launch, is the toddler life stage.

“[W]hile we recognize that some of you will be disappointed that pools and toddlers won’t be available when The Sims 4 Base Game launches in September, you should know that we’re building an incredibly strong foundation that is capable of fulfilling every one of your desires in the years to come.” Which is to say: expansions. So many expansions.
