No plans for a Donkey Kong Country Returns sequel

Retro Studio’s revealed that it currently has no plans to follow up the critically acclaimed Donkey Kong Country Returns. Don’t reach for the razor blades yet, however, because the team did not rule out the possibility.

“I wasn’t even thinking about doing a sequel for Metroid Prime until Retro showed me the last scene in the game, which was near the end of development,” said producer Kensuke Tanabe. “I wouldn’t say we won’t do a sequel, but we don’t have anything planned at this time.”

I’m sure we’ll be seeing Donkey Kong before too long, regardless of the current plans. If he doesn’t appear on the 3DS in the near future, I’ll be quite surprised.
