No online co-op in Fable 2 at launch, dog still a gripping plot device

When Fable 2 hits stores this October 21st there will be a notable game mode missing. Gamerscoreblog is reporting that Fable 2 will ship without online cooperative play. In other words, Lionhead are essentially shipping a jelly donut without glaze.

The reason for the lack of online co-op has to deal with Lionhead’s decision to make a few last minute tweaks to it. What was actually wrong with the mode has yet to be explored. There’s not too much to worry about though, as Microsoft Game Studios and Lionhead are targeting to get the mode out within the first week of launch.

While this isn’t the end of the world, I can’t imagine a worse announcement. I was really looking forward to this portion of the game from day one. Luckily, players will still be able to see friends’ glowing orbs scattered throughout the game’s world, which means trading and chatting can still happen.

What do you guys think? Would you rather have Lionhead sort out this problem before release? Is this a big deal? I must know these things!
