Sean Murray of Hello Games, the studio working on No Man’s Sky, recently appeared on Stephen Colbert’s new late-night talk show, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The developer discussed the overwhelming scale of the game (18 quintillion planets!) and showed off a bit of gameplay.

During the segment, they explore several planets in a single star system, naming a bunch of creatures after Colbert himself, including the Colbison and the Molebert. I wonder if anyone will be able to find the Colbert System when they play the game for themselves?

I still remain cautiously optimistic about No Man’s Sky. It looks and sounds incredible, but then I feel like we always see at least one planet with red grass and palm trees every time gameplay is shown, which leaves me wondering just how much variety there will actually be. Even so, I cannot wait to get my hands on this and check it out for myself!

Hopefully we’ll continue to see more games on Colbert’s show. He’s a pretty fantastic host.
