OK, first of all — if you seriously thought you were going to see the Xbox 360-exclusive Grand Theft Auto IV downloadable content this year, you’re a fool. Or Microsoft.
During some super cereal-sounding BMO Capital Markets Conference in New York City today, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said of the DLC: “It’s close to being complete. That said, it may move into the second quarter. Downloadable content is a big undertaking. It’s important to be really special.”
Well, it certainly should be “special” — putting out, say, a handful of half-assed maps nearly a year after the game’s release just wouldn’t cut it. At this point, gamers should be expecting mind-blowing, game-changing content.
And the Nintendo DS title Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars? Zelnick says we probably won’t see that until the first half of the fiscal year (read: hopefully by April).
So there you have it, no more new Grand Theft Auto for you in 2008. Might we suggest an alternative?
