NIS will announce a ‘mystery game’ at PAX West: can we bring back the Prinny PSP series?

Can I Really Be the Hero for the third time?

Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) is such an enigmatic company and I’m glad it still exists. The publisher has been putting out JRPGs and SRPGs hand over fist for over 20 years now, sometimes saving systems like the PSP and the Vita from complete and utter software droughts. In the modern era they’ve completely switched gears to just the PS4 and Switch, as they continue to ride out the popular Disgaea series and any number of other wacky original projects they have up their sleeve.

The next adventure is a mystery though, as NIS has announced that in addition to bringing The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, Disgaea 4 Complete+, Utawarerumono: ZAN, Destiny Connect: Tick-Tock Travelers, and The Alliance Alive HD Remastered to PAX West, the publisher is also announcing “one mystery title” for the show. For those of you attending the booth is 7505 on level six. NIS also promises a “special guest and panel,” as well as fun little activities like commemorative elongated/pressed pennies.

It’s a longshot, but with the Switch carrying on the legacy of handhelds, can we get another Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero game? Most people completely ignored the pair of 2009/2011 releases, especially given their home on the PSP, but they were so good at recreating an old school platforming feel that just isn’t as prevalent today. I still vividly recall mashing my PSP in my basement, beating the final boss of Prinny 1 for the first time: it’s a series that deserves to live on, even in re-release form!

See you at PAX West Dood [NIS]
