Right out of the gate, Nintendo spoke briefly about online play on the Nintendo Switch during its presentation this evening. While specifics were sparse, there’s one big detail: a price tag.

Players will be able to engage in online multiplayer, invite friends, chat, and set play appointments in compatible Switch games using an application on their smart device. Following Sony and Microsoft, the Switch’s online will be a paid service, beginning in the fall of 2017, but users will be able to try it for free in a trial period after launch on March 3, 2017.

More details at a later date.
