Nintendo says Apple is more of a threat than Microsoft

They often say Microsoft got into this industry specifically to threaten the competition, but according to Nintendo’s beefburger boss, it’s Microsoft’s closest tech rival that provides the biggest challenge. Nintendo is far more concerned with Apple than the makers of the Xbox 360. 

 “Do I think that in the near term they can hurt us more than Microsoft? Absolutely,” says Reggie Fils-Aime. 

Although he admits that the iPhone and iPod have been great for games like Angry Birds, the DS still provides a significant edge thanks to the versatility of its library, revealing that he himself has sunk 150 hours into Dragon Quest IX. 

Fils-Aime is a wise man to view Apple as a serious contender. Many gamers write the company off simply because they don’t like the products or the company. Your personal view on Apple as an organization, however, doesn’t take away from the fact that it will become a major player in this industry. It’s inevitable and you better get used to it.
