Nintendo president Satoru Iwata staying home from E3

Due to health reasons

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has been advised by his physician not to travel overseas “in the immediate future” and will be staying home next week, as a result. No E3! At least not in-person — Nintendo has its Digital Event, set to air on Tuesday morning, instead of a traditional conference.

In a statement provided to Polygon, Nintendo said “Please understand that it is business as usual for Mr. Iwata, and he continues his normal duties as president of Nintendo Co., Ltd. while he remains in Japan. As always, he will be actively involved in all of Nintendo’s activities at the show.”

Still. Can we, like, send him get-well-soon cards?
