Nintendo partners up with Mercedes-Benz again for Super Mario Maker

Following up its partnership with Mercedes-Benz for Mario Kart 8 cars and commercials, Nintendo has announced that there will be a new Mercedes GLA “costume” for Super Mario Maker. But completing a special event course, you’ll pick up the free bit of DLC for use in the 8-bit mode.

In the press release there’s lots of marketing speak from Mercedes and Nintendo execs alike about how “Mercedes-Benz recognizes the ability to create fun courses and share them with others,” but I couldn’t read that with a straight face.

Maybe Mercedes signed up for a multi-game deal, and Nintendo was like “hey, have some Super Mario Maker content?” Who knows, either way this whole partnership can be largely ignored, given that the DLC is free.
