Nintendo has announced that a silver DS will be available in stores on September 7th. The new color will join the already masterful choices by Nintendo that include Colbalt/Black, Metallic Rose, and Coral Pink. The landmark color decision was presumably submitted after millions of hours of focus testing on soccer mothers, thirteen-year-olds, and creepy adults that enjoy Pokemon a tad too much.
Nintendo had a statement to coincide about the announcement:
Millions of people around the world, from core gamers to new players, have discovered Nintendo DS. Some like to play traditional games like New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS or The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Others use it to train their brains with Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day or solve puzzles with Crosswords DS.
It’s definitely reassuring to know that consumers seeking a portable experience are actually playing games, nonetheless demanding new color schemes. I know this is a bit outside the target demographic, but I wonder who exactly waits for the perfect color (brown, please) of DS before considering purchase?
