Kicking off on April 23
We all knew that a lot of Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ content would come at a “later date,” but now we have some sort of clue as to how that is all going to play out. Just this morning Nintendo gave us some details for upcoming seasonal events, including Leif’s Garden Shop, Jolly Redd’s Treasure Trawler, Nature Day, May Day Tour, International Museum Day and Wedding Season.
The Garden Shop will kick off on April 23, which will offer an “assortment of foliage, including shrubs and flower seeds” by way of the vendor Leif. Based on the wording Leif is not a limited event, and will “regularly visit” your island. Jolly Redd (nice name change) will “occasionally show up in his boat to sell in-game art, as well as furniture with unique colors.” Naturally, the “is it real or fake” minigame continues, and players can sell real art to the museum. Like Leif, this seems to be a permanent fixture.
Now come the explicitly limited-time events. Nature Day, which we already knew about vaguely, also arrives on April 23 and will run through May 4. During this time “special Nook Miles challenges” will be available that “focus on nature-inspired goals, such as planting trees and watering flowers.” So…goals that are already in the game.
May Day Tour starts on May 1 and will run through May 7. You can use a “one-time” May Day Ticket at the airport to go on a “limited-time tour” to a “different” island with a “special visitor.” Intriguing! International Museum Day is from May 18-31, and will involve a stamp rally. You can collect stamps while looking at specimens for rewards. Cute!
Finally, Wedding Season is from June 1-30. Players can head to Harvey’s Island (the photographer you meet part of the way through the game) to chill with Reese and Cyrus, netting “wedding-themed items.” Nintendo also promises more updates “later in the year” to keep the game fresh.
I hope all these events are better received than Bunny Day!
