When skating or dying isn't enough.

Snappy roguelite Ninja or Die: Shadow of the Sun first hit PC in August, and now it’s set to dash and slash to Nintendo Switch next week.

Marvelous Europe unveiled plans for the Switch launch, which is locked in for November 1, 2023 around the world. The simplified action from developer Nao Games will be available on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99. Pre-order and you’ll get 10 percent off. Beyond its roguelite stylings, the main hooks for Ninja or Die are its speed and one-button controls. As detailed way back when we first took a look at it, you jump to where you point and slash through foes.

You can see a very brief sample in Marvelous Europe’s announcement.

Ninja nonsense

The story of Ninja or Die has you taking on the role of a pickpocket who becomes a deadly, lightning-fast ninja. The cataclysm that caused this change also turned the ramen seller into a samurai and the maiko into a lethal geisha. Now everyone finds themselves trapped in a chaotic loop. That’s where the roguelite aspects come into play. Death can be overcome with the help of permanent upgrades and stat boosts at your village.

With its focus on replayability, Ninja or Die might end up being a solid fit for Switch. It’s a tough entry in the sub-genre that lives up to its speedy claims. We’ll see how repeat runs pan out on Nintendo’s console when the ninja world unfolds before us very soon.
