Square Enix has announced that its dramatic android adventure NieR: Automata is still continuing to pull in new sales, with the 2017 title having hit the four million global shipments/sales milestone.

The action RPG, which tells an emotive story of a small band of combat androids fighting it out in a post-apocalyptic world, won over fans and critics with its sharp design, intriguing characters, and frantic, cinematic combat. Originally launching on PS4 and Xbox One, NieR: Automata would eventually be ported to PC, where a lackluster port would unfortunately require fan-fixes to get up to speed.

The last time Square Enix referenced NieR’s sales was in December 2018, where the game had shipped 3.5 million copies, so a further half million in the interim, for a two-year-old title, isn’t anything to be sniffed at. The publisher released the above trailer to celebrate the exploits of 2B and her fellow protagonists in their weary world.

NieR: Automata is available now on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
